Benefits of routine professional teeth cleaning

Are you aware that your oral health depends on two factors?
Firstly, is your willingness to brush and floss regularly and your commitment to seeing your dentist every six months for an oral exam and professional teeth cleaning.

You need to visit your dentist from time to time to prevent tooth decay and periodontal disease. Your six-month oral exam will ensure that your dentist spots any problems early in their development, but professional teeth cleaning may prevent those oral health issues, the most devastating of which is periodontal diseases.

By standard, dental cleaning takes approximately 45 minutes. It’s advisable to go for cleaning every six months to prevent excessive plaque buildup which can lead to unhealthy gums and tooth decay.

During your routine cleaning, we will remove plaque and polish your teeth. Then, our hygienist will floss your teeth and apply fluoride. Fluoride is a mineral that fights tooth decay by strengthening your tooth enamel. Our dentists will then perform a dental exam. They will examine all of your teeth and gums for signs of tooth decay, gingivitis, disease, and other oral problems.
Sometimes, our dentists may decide to take dental X-rays. If any dental issues were found, our dentists may recommend one or more dental treatments to improve the health of your smile. Our dental team will ensure that you understand your treatment options. Then, our dentists will design a treatment plan with you.
